Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6: 8-10
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
Reflection: The King of Syria sits down with his servants in his closet and devices military strategies to overthrow the King of Israel. He knew his carefully thought out and well planned strategies will bring the King of Israel to his knees. However he discovers that for each of the time he schemes, what needed to actually happen for his plan to work will somehow be derailed by the King of Israel. For this reason, his efforts were always rendered useless and even as non-starter in the first instance. It became evident to him that only a spy in his camp could be secretly giving information out to the King of Israel. As he began a search to arrest this spy, he discovers to his amazement that there was not really any spy per se but rather his evil thoughts were being revealed to the King of Israel by his Prophet called Elisha. By God you can know the thoughts of your enemies! This will help you escape their traps all the time. Ask God, the revealer of secrets, to show you the thoughts of your enemies!
Prayer: Oh Lord, let me know the thoughts of my enemies so I will escape their evil schemes.
Confession: By my God, I can know the thoughts of my enemies. I will not be taken by surprise by the evil plans of my enemies. Their plans will always be rendered useless!
