Scripture Reading: Jonah 2:9-10
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Reflections: Jonah, knowing God’s purpose for his life, attempted to flee from his calling to deliver a message of repentance to Nineveh. Convinced that the people were beyond redemption, he chose to go his own way, resulting in a storm that threatened the lives of those on board the ship to Tarshish. After being cast into the sea, Jonah was miraculously swallowed by a large fish, which kept him alive for three days. After his prayer of repentance, God directed the fish to release him on dry land, allowing Jonah to fulfill his divine mission. In life, we often stray from our God-given purpose, making choices that lead us into challenging situations—symbolically, our own “sea of trouble.” However, like Jonah, we can experience God’s grace through a divine encounter that preserves us, awakens us to repentance, and grants us a fresh start. When we turn back to God, He leads us to our true purpose and a renewed path.
Prayer: Lord, help me stay aligned with Your purpose, and may Your grace rescue me whenever I fall.
Confession: I will follow God’s path and embrace His new beginnings for my life.
