Saturday, 11th November 2023: Ask questions rather than assuming you know everything!

Scripture Genesis 24:5-6
And the servant said unto him, Peradventure, the woman, will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest? And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again

Reflections: Abraham delegated the duty of seeking a wife for his son, Isaac, to his servant, Eliezer. The search was narrowed down to Abraham’s birthplace. Rather than immediately carrying out the instructions, Eliezer requested clarification. He wondered if he should take Isaac to Abraham’s birthplace should the woman chosen for Isaac refuse to relocate. Abraham answered in the negative and asked Eliezer to make certain that Isaac never visited that location. Eliezer’s approach revealed his aversion to making assumptions, particularly when the option to seek explanation exist. This is an important lesson for avoiding blunders in life. Learn to seek clarification when necessary and never assume you know everything if you want to excel in life.

Prayer: Lord, help me to seek clarity when necessary.

Confession: I ask questions rather than assuming I know everything.
