Scripture Reading: Esther 9:
Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them, the Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;
Reflection: The two day feast of Purim was to be celebrated annually among the Jews. The feast was established by a decree enacted by Queen Esther and Mordecai with the full authority of the King. It was to remind the Jews and their generations about how God overturned and returned the wicked plot of Haman upon his own head and kinsmen. Haman had sought by a royal decree to annihilate all the Jews in the Medo-Persian kingdom and to have Mordecai hanged. But he had the greatest surprise of his life, when things turned out to the contrary. His own plans backfired by a higher decree ( the authority of the Most High God) which was brought into force by Esther and her people through a 3 day prayer and fasting program. The feast of Purim no doubt speaks of the fact that the plans of our enemies will not only backfire but will return upon their own heads. This is confirmed by the writer of Proverbs when he said ‘Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him'(Proverbs 26:27). The feast of Purim is yours too!: The plans of your enemies will backfire! You will live and not die. You will rise and not fall. God will be glorified in your life. Keep standing in prayer. Ask God for this divine intervention!
Prayer: Oh Lord, let the plans of the wicked concerning my life and destiny backfire and return to their own heads.
Confession: The plans of the wicked concerning my life and destiny shall backfire and return to their own heads.
