Saturday, 10th February 2024: Strive to be in the Spirit!

Scripture Reading: Rev 1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Reflections: John had a supernatural encounter where the Lord Jesus Christ visited him. This event happened when John was in the Spirit. The phrase ‘to be in’ implies allowing something to control you. Thus, John was under the control of the Holy Spirit. In life, we can be controlled by our fleshly desires or the Holy Spirit (Romans 9:9). Our fleshly desires are the internal tendencies to sin, and when they control us, we produce sinful fruits (Galatians 5:19-21). However, when we allow the Holy Spirit to control us, we can deny our fleshly desires (Galatians 5:16) and bear the fruit of righteousness (Galatians 5:22-23). By allowing the Holy Spirit to control us, we can open the door to supernatural encounters, just like John did. Therefore, let us strive to be controlled by the Spirit and produce good fruits!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be in the Spirit.

Confession: I am controlled by the Spirit.
