Scripture Reading: Romans 13:6b
For they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Reflection: Most people serving in leadership positions hardly ever see themselves as ministers/servants of God. Paul corrects this error in his letter to the Romans pertaining to the conduct of citizenry and governing authorities. He submits that people in authority are actually ministers/servants of God serving the interest of God for the good of the people. He declares ‘ they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing’. This is an important key to leadership effectiveness. When you perceive yourself as a servant/minister of God in any leadership capacity you find yourself, you are quick to remember that your actions must please God. This keeps you away from condoning what is negative and enables you to take steps in the right direction. How you perceive yourself in any leadership position is therefore crucial. It will largely determine how genuine and effective you will be. Keep seeing yourself as a minister God. No matter what, see your leadership role in life as an appointment by God. It will change they way you think and act. It will lead you more and more on the path of leadership effectiveness.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me never to loose consciousness that I am your servant in any leadership position I assume in life.
Confession: In whatever leadership position I will assume, I will keep seeing myself as a minister/servant of God. I will serve God’s interest. I will be on top. I will be effective.
