Scripture Reading: Luke 4: 10-11
For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season
Reflections:The devil did his best to tempt Jesus but he failed in all the three attempts. In the last attempt, he resorted to the use of scriptures. He noted that on all the two occasions of his attacks, Jesus had referred him to scriptures and had won. He knew it was now time to engage the medium of scriptures to outwit Jesus. His knowledge of scriptures proved to be superb as he quoted from Psalm 91:10-11. But Jesus was smarter. He saw through and knew the devil was only and purposefully wrongly applying the scriptures. He therefore counter quoted what the devil had submitted and thereby exposed the devil’s strategy of misapplying scriptures. The devil had no choice than to shamefully quit the fight. He had been defeated completely. Don’t ever think you are the only one who knows the scriptures. The devils knows it all too and he can get you trapped through his tactics of getting you to misapply it. Just be on the alert and keep abounding in rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15)
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the ability to rightly divide the word of truth so that I will not fall prey to the schemes of the the enemy.
Confession: The devil will not get me to misapply the scriptures to daily living. I rightly divide the word of Truth.
