Monday, 8th February 2016: You can overcome the voice of personal opinion!

Scripture Reading: Acts 9: 13-15
Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

Reflection: One disciple who played an important role in the conversion of Saul was Ananias. Even though the two had never met before, God arranged for them to meet. The arrangement to meet, however, did not come with ease. There was an initial resistance from Ananias. His opinion that Saul was a dangerous man got in the way. It was only when he gave up this personal opinion, that God was able to use him to heal the eyesight of Saul and to get him filled with the power of the Holy Spirit for his apostolic mission. As a child of God, once awhile the voice of personal opinion may try to resist the desire of God to use you. However, like Ananias once you overcome this voice, you will remain useful in God’s hands.

Prayer: Lord help me to yield to your voice all the time!
