Scripture Reading: 2Ki 2:14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? And when he had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: Elisha went over.
Reflections: Elisha used to be one of the servants of Elijah. One day Elijah decided to embark on a journey. A chariot of fire was going to whisk him away from the earth and send him to heaven. The event was going to mark the end of his life on earth. Unlike the other servants of Elijah, Elisha saw the need to follow his master through and continue to serve him till the very last day. Even though Elijah resisted the move, Elisha would not give up. He wanted a double portion of his master’s anointing, and he was ready to pay the price for it. After traveling through three different locations, a chariot of fire appeared in a flash and whisked away Elijah. Elisha however saw it all. As his loud and strong voice broke through the clouds to reach the voice of his master with the cry of ‘ my father, my father’ Elijah dropped his mantle. He took hold of it immediately. He had fought very well for what he most needed in life. Like Elisha, you must always fight for what you need in line with your destiny. Don’t give up in life!
Prayer: Oh Lord, give me the spirit that persists so I can fight for my destiny.
Confession: I don’t give up in life. I fight for what I need. I persist until I get it.
