Scripture Reading: Matthew 13:15
“For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

Reflections: When the disciples asked why Jesus used parables, He revealed a key principle: the condition of one’s heart determines access to divine truth. Many Jews had hardened their hearts, closing their eyes and ears to Jesus’ message, convinced they already knew everything about God. Because of this, speaking plainly would have been ineffective. To hear from God, we must approach Him with an open heart, not assuming what we know is final. A willing heart, ready to receive and act on His word, is essential for a fruitful relationship with Him.

Prayer: Lord, help me keep an open and willing heart toward You.
