Scripture Reading:2 Timothy 4:8
Now there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that Day; and not to me only, but also to all those who love His appearing.
Reflection: Judges are elected to preside over and to administer the law in a court of justice. They administer justice after examining all the factual evidence presented in a case. Sadly, some Judges have been found to rather bend the rules and thereby causing dissatisfied complainants to seek redress in a higher court of appeal. Paul points us to another Judge who can never be found to pervert Justice. He calls Him the ‘Righteous Judge’. The word ‘righteous’ translated from the Greek ‘dikaios’ means to be ‘faultless and upright’. God is absolutely faultless and upright. He judges all cases without partiality. You must seek to be like Him if you are ever given the opportunity to make a judgment over issues whether as a lay person or a Judge. Certainly you must emulate the faultless and upright Judge in order to make our world a better place to live in.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be faultless in the judgments I make.
Confession: My God is the faultless and upright Judge. As his representative on earth, I will ensure that I emulate Him.
