Monday, 4th September 2023: Your weakness is a vulnerability that your enemy can easily exploit!

Scripture Reading: Judge 16:5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

Reflections: Samson had displayed remarkable strength to the Philistines. His supernatural power made him invincible. The Philistines wanted to defeat him and came up with a plan. They decided to ask Delilah, Samson’s Philistine girlfriend, to entice him and find out the source of his strength. With this knowledge, they could capture him. The word ‘entice’ comes from the Hebrew word ‘patha’, which means “to be opened up”. It implies extreme vulnerability. This suggests that something about Samson made him vulnerable, and Delilah was tasked with exploiting it. This was his sexual lust. This scenario teaches us that our weakness can make us vulnerable to enemies. A weakness is a moral, character, or behavioural flaw. Apart from sexual lust, it also includes gossiping, alcoholism, thieving, rage, greed, and addiction, among other things. Learn to work at your weaknesses and overcome it with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me overcome any weakness in my life.
Confession: I overcome any weakness I have.
