When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Reflection: Joseph woke up from a dream. He was thankful for this prophetic direction. He had been warned by an angel to leave town immediately with his family because Herod was after the child Jesus to kill. We are not told at what time he had the dream. We also note that the angel did not tell him specifically what time to undertake the flight. However Joseph is noted to have sneaked out of town with his family in the night. The possibility that he may have awoken from the dream in the night and undertook the flight at that same time cannot be ruled out. However it is significant that the flight was undertaken in the night by Joseph. It is common sense in this instance to choose to travel in the night rather than during the day. The night was going to conceal his movement more and therefore better guaranteed the security and safety of Jesus. Joseph therefore did the right thing at the right time and not at the wrong time. The key thing in life is that you must learn not to ever end up doing the right thing at the wrong time. It can create problems for you. Think before you act! Be led by the Holy Spirit in your thinking.
