Scripture Reading: Matthew 10:5-6
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Reflections: The cities of the Gentiles, Samaritans and that of the Jews were target areas of Jesus Christ for evangelism purposes. However as he ushered his 12 disciples unto the mission field, he instructed them to focus only on the Jews. This order, based on hindsight, appears to be an issue of prioritization. This is because prior to his departure to heaven on the Mount of Olives, his final instructions to the same apostles showed a line up of targeted areas beginning from Jerusalem, through to Judaea, Samaria, and finally to the uttermost part of the earth- Acts 1:8. Clearly Jesus worked with the principle of prioritization and this establishes it as an important life principle. Prioritization refers to arranging (items to be attended to) in order of their relative importance dealing with them one by one. ‘As a principle, it means doing ‘first things first. Doing first things first enables you to plan well and to deliver on your given tasks in a time conscious manner. At the end it makes you efficient and effective.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me abide by the principle of prioritization.
Confession: I prioritize actions I take in life. I am effective and efficient in delivering on tasks I assigned myself.
