Scripture Reading: Judges 11:13
Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him
Reflections: Jephthah was born out of harlotry. His half-brothers detested this illegitimate background and used it as grounds to disinherit him when they grew up. They expelled him from their father’s house when he least expected it. Having nowhere to go, Jephthah made his residence in the bush and lived on. This exhibition of emotional resilience by Jephthah is a critical survival tactic in life. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. It does not allow you to accept the presence of a challenge as the end of your life! Resilience will enable you to keep moving until you break through. Like Jephthah, learn to be resilient. Life must go on!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for making me resilient in life.
Confession: I am resilient in life.
