Scripture Reading: Genesis 3:4-6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Reflections: Satan devised a strategy that worked to persuade Adam to sin. The plan was to work through Eve, Adam’s wife. Thus Satan deceived Eve into thinking it was okay to eat the forbidden fruit. Eve fell for his ruse and immediately ate the fruit. Satan rejoiced as Eve eventually persuaded Adam to eat the fruit as well. His strategy worked out perfectly. Often, as in the case of Adam, Satan will use persons close to you to persuade you to sin. Satan employs these techniques when he knows he will not be able to directly induce you to sin. As a result, it is critical to carefully test what people tell you or ask you to do against the standards of God’s word before acting. Always keep in mind that the devil can get you through intimate associates.

Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me the grace to subject what people tell me to your word before I act.
