Scripture Reading: Matthew 10:5-6 (KJV)
“These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Reflections: Being a disciple of Jesus requires commitment to His instructions. In this passage, Jesus gave His twelve disciples clear directions on where to go and where not to go. These instructions were purposeful, aligning with God’s plan and timing. Discipleship means submitting to Christ’s authority, even when His commands don’t align with our desires or understanding. Jesus’ focus on the “lost sheep of Israel” was strategic salvation was first revealed to Israel before reaching the Gentiles. Following God’s instructions makes us effective in His service, while deviation, even with good intentions, leads to frustration. True discipleship requires humility, faith, and obedience, trusting that His ways are higher than ours.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to follow Your instructions with humility and trust.
Confession: I choose to follow Christ’s instructions in every area of my life.
