Scripture Reading: Heb 13:7
Reflections: Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
The writer of Hebrews makes it very clear that much as you have to submit to your pastor, you have to also ‘consider the end of their conversation’, The word ‘conversation’ in Hebrew is ‘ anastrophē’ which means behavior. You therefore owe yourself a duty to perform before you are witlessly led astray or contaminated by the leader and mentor of your faith. How often you observe their character and how they live is critical to the development of your faith. You will make a fatal mistake if you don’t do this. It is not all about their power and oratory skills. Keep a close eye on the character and way of life of your pastor!
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the eyes I need, to assess the character and way of life of pastors in my life.
Confession: I just don’t accept any pastor at all. I assess their character and the way they live.
