Scripture Reading: Num 22:22 And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
Reflections: Balaam rode his donkey towards the hill, refusing to abandon his preparations to oppose Israel. He planned to use his divining powers to curse Israel once he reached the top of the hill. Unknown to him, God had sent an angel ahead of him to obstruct his way. As Balaam approached, the angel stood on the path, quietly waiting. While the donkey could see the angel, Balaam couldn’t until the donkey, terrified by the angel, threw him down. Then the LORD made it possible for him to see the angel standing in the road with a sword in his hand. We can deduce from this narrative that God sends his angels our way to prevent our enemies from having access into our lives. Your adversaries will be blocked by angels.
Prayer: Oh Lord, send an angel to to stand in the way of every ‘Balaam’ in my life.
Confessions: I am protected by angels.
