Scripture Reading: Exodus 17:9&11
And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

Reflection:  Amalek came against Israel in battle. Moses commissions Joshua to lead israel into battle while he involves himself in something unexpected. He climbs up the mountain, stands firmly on his feet and lifts up the rod of God high up towards the skies. Aaron and Hur, who accompanied him, looked down the mountain and realized that the battle was going in favour of Israel. At another time, when they saw that the hands of Moses was drooping, they noted that Amalek had began to gain the upper hand. They quickly rushed to prop up Moses’ hand. Israel therefore won the battle hands down! The battle had been won by the supernatural intervention initiated through Moses by the rod of God in his hand. You cannot win the battle in life without first winning it in the supernatural. You do not war against the flesh and the weapons of your warfare are not carnal says Paul in 2 Cor 10:3-6. Like the case of Israel, you need the supernatural dimension. Your ‘rod of God’ is your prayer life. Keep ‘lifting’ your prayers ‘high up’. Your victory is assured!
