Scripture Reading: Acts 7:40-41
Saying unto Aaron, make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
Reflections: It had been nearly 40 days since Moses had departed from the camp to ascend the mountain and receive the Ten Commandments from God. During his absence, the people of Israel became restless and worried about his well-being. Their impatience made them forget that God would not abandon them without their leader. Frustrated and eager for guidance, they worshipped the golden calf they had fashioned and engaged in immoral behaviour. This behaviour marked a complete departure from their devotion to God. Just like the Israelites, impatience can lead to poor choices. Impatience arises when one cannot tolerate waiting for something or someone, and it can lead to actions that contradict God’s intentions. Therefore, it is crucial to develop the virtue of patience, as it prevents mistakes similar to those made by the Israelites.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to deal with impatience in life.
Confession: I am patient in life.
