Scripture Reading: Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Reflection: In our secular world, no one would like to employ people who will not be effective in their area of work. Once you loose your effectiveness at the workplace, your job may be on the line. Effectiveness, which essentially is the degree to which one is successful in delivering a given task is of overriding importance in life. It is important to also note that God expects us to be effective in our lives as his witnesses. Jesus asked his disciples to wait for POWER before embarking on their task as witnesses. The Greek word translated power is DUNAMIS. It emphasizes an inherent force/ability which enables you to do something effectively. Thus the Christian is positioned and expected by God to demonstrate effectiveness in life through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Power for effectiveness in life is therefore available to you! (Eph 3:7&20). Allow the Holy Spirit to work out this power in you like he did for the early disciples.
