Scripture Reading: Luke 17:3-4 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Reflection: Jesus informed his disciples that they have the responsibility of verbally letting those who offend them know of their actions and consequently forgive them. The offenders, also upon been told of their actions, are required to apologize for their behavior. The number of times this happens should not be an issue. How wonderful it will be if we all abide by this principle of dealing with offense and offenders in the kingdom. Too many people feel offended by others and yet fail to tell the offenders about their actions. Many others also know they have offended people but are yet reluctant to apologize. Some also in reality will never know they have offended others until they are told so. God’s standard of living is what will help address all these. Those who are moved by God’s standard for living are those who are after God’s own heart! They have a heart ready to forgive and to inform offenders of their actions. They also have the heart ever ready to apologize for offense they cause others. Is your heart after God’s own heart? Keep walking on the path of righteousness for HIS name sake.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me a heart which is always ready to forgive those who offend me and a heart always in readiness to apologize to those I offend. Confessions: I have the heart to let those who offend me know of their actions. I have the heart to forgive them. I also have the heart to apologize to those I offend. My heart is set after God’s heart!
