Monday, 27th March 2017:Don’t disregard rules and regulations governing excellence in life and godly living!

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:16
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

Reflections: Esau is described as a fornicator and a profane person for selling his birthright to his brother Jacob. This description is worth examining. It points to an important principle for living that should not be avoided. The fornicator indulges in sex outside marriage while the profane person shows absolute disrespect for things that are holy. Put together, these attitudes show a violation to rules and regulations governing life as set out by God. Clearly, Esau disregarded the progenitor rule reserved for firstborns in his native land. He treated it lightly and sold it to feed himself. He therefore missed the double portion blessing he would have received at the death of his father. Adhering to laid down rules and regulations is an important principle for living that Esau ignored. Don’t follow his footsteps. Don’t disregard rules and regulations for governing excellence in life and godly living! It will keep you out of a lot of troubles.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to obey rules and standards governing excellence in life and godly living.

Confession: I will not live a life that disregards rules and standards governing excellence in life and godly living.
