Scripture Reading: 1Ti 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.
Reflections: Faith and conscience are inseparable and play a critical role in spiritual growth and warfare. Conscience is the voice of the mind. It approves or disapproves your actions. Collin Smith put it right when he said ‘Conscience gives you the ability to evaluate your own thoughts and desires, to discern what is right and wrong, and to distinguish between what is good and what is best‘. Once your conscience, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, does not condemn you regarding your actions and reactions, (John 16:8) you are placed in that good position where your faith will drive you in the right direction for the right results. If this is not the case, then as Paul indicated, your faith and for that matter your life in the Christian faith will be wrecked like a ship. Faith therefore demands a good conscience for delivery!
Prayer: Dear Lord, let me not only develop my faith but also a life of good conscience.
Confession: I do not just exercise faith, I do so alongside a good conscience.
