Monday, 26th November 2018:Don’t turn your new song into an avenue of entertainment!

Scripture Reading:Psa 40:3
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD

Reflections: David went through hardships which he described as life in a ‘miry clay and a horrible pit’. He speaks about how God delivered him from this condition and adds that his breakthrough was accompanied by a new song which the Lord put in his mouth and that as he praises God with the song, many will come to fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Two key things are noted here. First breakthroughs and songs of praises/worship are inseparable so keep singing unto the Lord. Secondly singing of ‘new songs’ is not for entertainment, but a ministry and a witness to others about the goodness of the Lord. In this regard, like David, don’t turn your new song into an avenue of entertainment. Rather let it be a ministry to God and a witness to others.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for giving me new songs. Help me sing them out to your praise and as a testimony to affect lives.

Confession: I will not use songs of the Lord to entertain people but will employ it as a ministry to God and a witness to others.
