He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed
Reflections: A companion is a ‘person you spends a lot of time with you, often because you are friends’. The writer of Proverbs speaks of two kinds of companions in life- the wise and the foolish. He concludes that the kind you have will largely determine your fate overtime. Those who keep company with the wise, he says, will become wise while those who become companions of fools will suffer destruction. Wise people revere God, avoid prodigal living and demonstrate a great sense of responsibility. Fools do exactly the opposite. They treat God’s word lightly, lack foresight and hardly ever add value to their lives. Don’t treat the choice of companions lightly in your life. Be selective!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to cut off from the company of fools and to connect to only wise companions.
