Monday, 26th April 2021: Meditating on what is forbidden will drive you into trouble!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Reflections: The orientation ceremony on how to live in the Eden was over. God had told them to eat of every fruit except that of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They were very clear about this and happily began to settle down to a life of dominion and joy. This glorious life however became short lived when the devil visited Eve and got her through deceptive statements to meditate on how wonderfully one can be transformed if they ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. As she kept meditating on the unapproved, she got to the point where she could no longer resist the urge to eat. Clearly, meditating on what is forbidden will surely drive you into trouble. No wonder Paul admonished that one should meditate on only those things which are true, honest, just, lovely and of a good report(Philippians 4:8).

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to avoid meditating on what is forbidden

Confession: I don’t meditate on what is forbidden.
