Scripture Reading: Psalm 97:10 Ye that loves the LORD hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Reflections: Evil is considered immoral and wicked, with no connection to God but everything to do with Satan. Therefore, the Psalmist urges those who love God to display hatred for what is evil. This admonition implies that to be recognized as a child of God, you must distance yourself from it, condemn it, and resist it. Just like Jesus, who loved righteousness and hated iniquity (Hebrews 1:9), we must also obey this principle. The extent we hate evil indeed reflects how much we love the Lord. Proclaiming your love for the Lord is insufficient until you demonstrate hatred towards what is evil.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me love you and demonstrate hatred for what is immoral and evil.
Confession: My life demonstrates my hatred of wickedness.
