Scripture Reading: Gen 22:12
And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me
Reflections: Abraham had an only son, Isaac. One day God asked him to sacrifice this only son. It was so unusual and seemingly out of place for this request to be carried out, but Abraham proceeded to comply. As soon as he placed the child on the altar and was ready to kill him with the knife, God stopped the entire process. At that point, God made Abraham understand that the request was only meant to provide the evidence that Abraham truly fears (revered) God. To fear God has three implications: giving God the first place in your life, obeying him, and depending on him. As long as these three factors are continuously evident in your walk with the Lord, you provide empirical proof that you fear the Lord. Like Abraham, you will then be blessed by God. Divine blessings are truly linked to the fear of the Lord!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me pass every divine test!
Confession: I pass every divine test. God blesses me.
