Scripture Reading: Mark 1:34
And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
Reflections: Jesus’s earthy ministry had just begun. As he preached, He cast out demons from people, and they succumbed. He adopted the approach of restricting the demons from talking. He did so to prevent them from disclosing His identity as the Messiah. This meant that the demons knew who He was. It indicates that the devil knows who we are- whether devoted Christians or not (Acts 19:15-16, John 14:30), and he only obeys the commands of those Christians whose lifestyles are in tandem with the word of God! Like the case of Jesus, before you ever deal with the devil or his demons, remember they know who you are and what that implies! You cannot engage the devil in a battle when you know you do not live your life in total submission to God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me live out my true identity as your child so demons can submit when I cast them out and dismantle their works.
Confession: I live out my true identity as a Christian. I am not a fake. The devil knows it!
