Monday, 22nd August 2022: Be on the lookout!

Scripture Reading: John 1:33
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptise with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Reflections: As John was getting people baptised in the Jordan river, he was constantly looking for a sign that would confirm one of them as the Messiah. God had told him that the Spirit of God would descend on that person. Despite a large number of people gathered, his alertness paved the way for him to identify Jesus as the messiah as soon as he arrived. Staying alert is an essential principle in life. It enables you to pick up unusual things. The story of how Elisha got the mantle of Elijah demonstrates this vividly. Although it happened in just a flash, he was quick to see the chariot of fire that whisked Elijah away (2Kings 2:10-12). As long as you don’t want to miss what you seek to see in life, it would help if you learned to be constantly on the lookout, even amid a ‘crowded’ situation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me the grace to be on the lookout whenever I am required to do so.

Confession: i will not miss seeing what I have to see. I am on the look out.
