Monday, 22nd July 2024: It is wisdom to run away from danger!!

Scripture Reading: Acts 9: 29-30
And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him. Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus

Reflections: After his conversion in Damascus, Paul began preaching the gospel. Despite his ministry being successful, most Jews tried to kill him. Paul escaped with the help of some disciples, who lowered him down in a basket through a window (Acts 9:22-25). Upon arriving in Jerusalem, Paul continued his ministry. He engaged in debates with the Grecians, trying to help them understand God’s plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Like the Jews in Damascus, the Grecians opposed his teachings and plotted to kill him. When the disciples learned of the plan, they helped him escape and relocate to Tarsus. The story of how Paul evaded two death threats following his conversion highlights the wisdom of fleeing from danger. Like Paul, choosing to run away from danger when it arises can help you live longer and continue pursuing your life’s goals. Make choices that allow you to live longer!

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me discern danger and to have the wisdom to run away from it.

Confession: I discern danger and run away from it.
