Monday, 20th November 2017: Be slow to WRATH!

Scripture Reading: James 1: 19 -20
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Reflections: One thing that can destroy our personality and image and affect our relationship with God at the same time is WRATH. We are therefore reminded by Apostle James to keep it under control. ‘Be slow in manifesting it’, he cautions. What actually is wrath? As defined by Barclay, it is ‘the blaze of temper which flares into violent words and deeds, and just as quickly dies’. Before it quickly ‘dies’, wrath causes people to commit regrettable but irreparable ‘damages’ to lives. Some have divorced, killed or physically wounded others because of wrath. Watch out! If there is something you must not be quick to do, it is exhibiting wrath! Keep it under control!

Prayer: Oh Lord, when I am provoked, grant me grace not to show up wrath!

Confession: I don’t flare up tempers. I keep wrath under control.
