Scripture Reading: Genesis 20:3
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
Reflections: Abraham sought refuge in the land of Gerar with his wife, Sarah. Abimelech, King of Gerar, was stunned by Sarah’s beauty and desperately desired her. Abraham was afraid to admit to the King that Sarah was his wife. As a result, he settled for saying Sarah was his sister. The King, therefore, took Sarah into his abode. He was, however, restrained from having sexual contact with Sarah through a dream he had that night. In the dream, God told him about the marital status of Sarah and warned him of the consequences of keeping and touching Sarah. Consequently, he released Sarah. This story demonstrates one of the many benefits of dreams: they can be a source of information that warns you about sin and prevents you from committing it.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for dreams that will keep me away from sin.
Confession: I am forewarned about impending dangers through dreams
