Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Reflection: Perfecting of the saints is one of the primary tasks of Men and Women called into ministry. This implicitly shows that God requires each child of his to pursue perfection in life. You see, if someone is tasked to make sure you become perfect in life, it simply means you are also required to be seen pursuing perfection. You cannot stay ignorant of the subject matter or become unconcerned in the bid to get you perfected. For instance, we know that even though teachers are tasked to teach, the students also have the responsibility to pursue learning. You have a responsibility to pursue perfection in your Christian life. Perfection is to ‘make (something) completely free from faults or defects’. It speaks of improvement and refinement. You are thus required to involve yourself in the daily actions of improving and refining your christian life on the basis of God’s word until you become faultless! Essentially you must become like the Lord Jesus Christ in character and power. Allow yourself to get to work!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me grace to pursue perfection in life.
Confession: I pursue perfection in life. I get rid of faults and defects in my life and keep improving my lifestyle on the basis of the word of God.
