Scripture Reading: 1Th 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
Reflections: Setting of goals is one of the principles in life that enables you to think about your ideal future and motivate yourself to work towards it. In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul through his words ‘study to be quiet’ directs the attention of the church to the need for one to live quietly and to set goals towards achieving it. This places living quietly as an important aspect of life to be pursued. To live quietly is to refrain from meddling in the affairs of others. Meddling is a practice related to gossiping and trying to get into other people’s personal affairs without invitation. In the end it opens the door for the devil to breakdown the bond of unity and love and to stir up bitterness and hatred. Setting and pursuing a goal to live quietly is definitely a priority to keep the devil out of business. Go ahead and make it in your goal to live quietly.
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me grace not to meddle in the affairs of others.
Confession: I have a goal in life to live quietly. I don’t meddle in the affairs of people.
