These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Reflections: Jesus once sent his disciples on a mission to preach to people and gave them specific instructions to follow during the sending-off ceremony. They were asked not to extend their activities to Gentile territories but to focus their work on the Jews. The success of their mission was tied to their obedience to these instructions. This event teaches us that to be successful in any task, we must follow its accompanying instructions. The story of Eden in Genesis 2:15-17 highlights the importance of compliance with instructions in life. Just like the disciples, we should remember that the success of any mission depends on how well we follow its instructions. We should take the subject matter of instructions seriously.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to pay attention to instructions.
