Scripture Reading: Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her
Reflections: Jesus visited Mary and Martha. This was a moment of excitement for both women. However, their responses to their excitement took various forms. While Martha focused on preparing a sumptuous supper for their host, Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and attentively listen to his exposition of the Scriptures. Jesus praised and approved of Mary’s action by stating that it was the only thing needful to do. The term “needful” suggests something of prior importance. No matter how long your to-do list may be, one thing should always take precedence: reading and holding firm to God’s word. It will continue to be the luminary that guides your feet and the light that illuminates your path (Psalm 119:105). Give God’s Word priority!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me stay glued to your word no matter what.
Confession: I am glued to the word of God and its influence over my life.
