Scripture Reading: Luke 17:3-4
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Reflections: Jesus dealt with the issue of offense and offenders and showed the important role of forgiveness and rending of apologies for relationships to survive. He informed his disciples that anybody who feels they have been offended by others have the responsibility of verbally making those who hurt them aware of their actions and thereafter forgiving them. The offenders on the other hand, also upon been told of their actions, are required to apologize for their behavior. The number of times this happens should not be an issue. The important thing is the ability and readiness of the heart to forgive and to render apologies. This is the heart after God’s own heart. As long as you have this heart, you please God. Keep pleasing God!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me a heart which is always ready to forgive those who offend me and a heart always in readiness to apologize to those I offend.
Confession: I have the heart to let those who offend me know of their actions. I have the heart to forgive them. I also have the heart to apologize to those I offend. My heart is set after God’s heart!
