Scripture Reading: 2 Chronicles 21:20
Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem for eight years and departed without being desired. Howbeit, they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings

Reflections: Jehoram inherited his father Jehoshaphat’s throne. The contrast between his reign and that of his father was drastic. Unlike his father, who was known to have devotedly loved and served the Lord, Jehoram cared less about his relationship with God. He submitted to a life of evil and depravity. He failed to follow his father’s exemplary behaviour. Despite Elijah’s warnings, he continued to do what was evil in God’s eyes. He paid the price for this. Unrest in his reign followed his diagnosis of an incurable illness. When he died, his relatives refused to bury him in the caves of kings. His mistake was simple. He failed to live an exemplary life. Unlike Jehoram, learn to do what is right. Emulate godly behaviour ( 1Cor 11:1)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me emulate godly behaviours.

Confession: I follow only excellent and godly examples in life.
