Monday, 16th December 2019: Faith calls for obedience!

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:7
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Reflections: The word faith is translated from the Greek word ‘Pistis’. It means reliance or trust. It has two connotations. The first speaks of believing and the second talks about obedience. Thus when you trust in or can rely on something, you believe what it says and then you move on with conviction to respond to what it demands. This is clearly demonstrated in the faith of Noah. He was told by God about an impending calamity. He believed what God said. However there was a demand on what he had believed in. He was required to build an ark. It sounded so foolish but he obeyed. His believe in God’s word and his obedience to the word demonstrated his faith which saved him from the destruction of the world by water. Don’t just believe God’s word. You must also obey what it says. This is the only way to please God and to encounter HIS glory.

Prayer: Oh Lord, help me so that my faith will not end at just believing what you say but will extend to obeying what you say.

Confession: I have a living faith. I just don’t believe what God says. I obey what He demands.
