Monday, 15th January 2018: Don’t ever stop praising God!

Scripture Reading: Psalm 67:
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

Reflection: Man’s place of abode is the earth. The earth must therefore produce a conducive environment necessary for man to survive. The Psalmist refers to this as the ‘earth yielding her increase’. If the earth ceases to do this, life on earth will definitely be quite unbearable for man. The aim of man must therefore be to get the earth to yield her increase. The Psalmist shows us a key way to do this- Praising God! Elmer A. Martens said words synonymous with praise as used in the bible such as “bless, ” “exalt, ” “extol, ” “glorify, ” “magnify, ” “thank, ” and “confess’ point to its meaning and rightly concludes that to praise God is to call attention to his glory. You can call attention to God’s glory with your words of adoration, lifting up of hands, dancing with your feet, singing of songs etc etc and of course with your lifestyle in general. How often do you do something to turn attention to God’s glory? How often do you praise God? Remember, when praises goes up to the Lord, the earth will yield her increase. Don’t stop praising God!

Prayer: Oh Lord, let the earth yield her increase as I praise you.

Confession: I will not cease praising God. Let the earth yield her increase.
