Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 21:9-10
And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

Reflections: Everyone needs an ‘open door’!. ‘Open doors’ denotes access to privileges and honour needed to make life meaningful. However, knowing the importance of ‘open doors’, the devil also sets up counterfeit ones with his usual mandate to ‘steal, kill and destroy’. The death of Naboth is a clear case in point. Queen Jezebel vows to kill him so that King Ahab could have his vineyard. She cleverly sets up a plan to honor Naboth during a public fast. Naboth had no idea this was a trap. As soon as he accessed that open door, the two false witnesses hired by Jezebel went to work. Their false bearing witness tactics got Naboth convicted. The penalty was death by stoning! Poor Naboth died untimely because of an open door. Indeed some open doors must not be accessed at all. They must therefore be closed.

Prayer: Oh Lord by your power, let all opened doors in my life from the camp of my enemies close by fire!

Confessions: I declare closed, any open door in my life which was not opened by God.
