Monday, 15th August 2016: Don’t ignore warning signs in life.

Scripture Reading: Eziekiel 33: 3-4
If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

Reflection: The work of a watchman in his watch tower is to warn the people of his town about any impending danger or eventuality. He is strategically placed on top of the city wall to scan the environment for the presence of any advancing enemy. Once his eyes spots any such move, he blows the trumpet to sound an alarm. This enables his people to adequately prepare to resist the coming threat. Without the warning sign from the watchman, the people will be taken unawares. On the other hand, if the people hear the sound (warning sign) alright but ignore it, they will still be taken unawares. In this this regard, they cannot blame the watchman. They will have themselves to blame. This is the picture, God sought to bring to his people through the prophetic voice of Eziekiel. Before any calamity looms, God will use his servants to provide the warning sound through his word. Whoever ignores it will have themselves to blame. In life, you must not ignore any warning sign you pick up. Learn to act swiftly to avoid danger.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to take any warning sign you allow me to pick seriously so I can avoid danger.

Confession: I am not deaf to warning signs in life. I will not ignore any warning sign I pick up in life. I shall act swiftly to avoid danger.
