Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
Reflection: The response of the Thessalonians to the Gospel was overwhelming to the extent that Paul wrote to commend them. Among others, not only were they noted to have turned away from the worship of idols to serve God but were also seen to be waiting for His son Jesus to come from heaven to rapture the saints. This is an indication that they kept reminding themselves about the soon return of Jesus to rapture the saints. This consciousness provides one with the motivation to live righteously and to withstand trials and temptation. Its absence can be disastrous. It can cause you to compromise your christian standards and wallow in carnality. Like the Thessalonians, keep the coming of the Lord active in your mind and prepare towards it. You cannot afford to be left on this earth to face the wrath to come. It is dangerous to live without keeping yourself reminded about the return of Christ! Be rapture ready!
Prayer: Oh Lord, may I never loose the consciousness that you are returning to earth to rapture the saints.
Confession: I know and believe Christ will be returning to the earth to rapture the saints. I live with this consciousness. I am motivated to keep to the path of righteousness and to withstand trials and temptations. I am rapture ready!
