Monday, 13th March 2023: To outwit your opponents, you must be swift!

Scripture Reading: Luke 6: 9-10
Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? To save a life or to destroy it? And looking around them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Reflections: During the Sabbath, the law demanded that no labor be performed. The Pharisees and Scribes wanted Jesus to heal a man on a Sabbath day so that they could accuse him of violating the sabbath rules. Jesus, aware of their plan, questioned whether it was lawful on the Sabbath to do good or evil, to save or take life. They were unable to respond, as the answer was obvious-to do good. Consequently, Jesus cured the man. They could not proceed to accuse him as planned. They knew He had completely outwitted them with the question he posed. To ‘outwit’ means ‘to gain an advantage over someone by acting more intelligently’. In life, you must be quick to devise tactics to outwit your adversaries and derail their goals.

Prayer: Please, Lord, grant me the wisdom to always outwit my adversaries.

Confession: I outwit my enemies.
