Scripture Reading: Jonah 1:15
So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
Reflections: A ship was on its way to Tarshish when it encountered a severe storm that threatened to sink the vessel and kill all the passengers on board. The captain and crew suspected that the storm was not a natural occurrence. To determine the cause of the storm, they used a lot casting system, which revealed that Jonah, one of the passengers, was responsible for the storm due to his disobedience to God. Jonah acknowledged his wrongdoing and suggested throwing him overboard would calm the storm. Although the sailors were initially hesitant, they eventually threw Jonah into the sea, and the storm immediately subsided. This story teaches us to be discerning enough to recognize the supernatural causes of natural events and address the issues at hand better instead of assuming that everything is a natural occurrence.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be discerning enough to recognize the supernatural causes of natural events.
Confession: I am discerning enough to recognize the supernatural causes of natural events
