Scripture Reading: Daniel 9: 21
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
Reflection: Daniel was quite young when he was brought alongside his kinsmen from Israel into Babylonian captivity. Now it’s been many years of servitude in Babylon.A life in captivity was certainly not pleasant at all. Daniel at this time, found himself Interceding for the release of his motherland from captivity. Unknowing to him, his voice in prayer was yielding results for his nation. He received an angelic visitation promising peace and prosperity for Israel. Israel was soon granted liberation from slavery. It was all over because Daniel prayed! Freedom at last! What if he had not personally prayed for his country? Like Daniel, your prayers for your nation counts. Never underestimate what happens whenever you personally pray for your country. Apart from ensuring national peace and prosperity, it also causes God to prosper you as an individual! The psalmist words ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces'( Psalm 122:6-7)’ tells it all. Begin to pray for your nation like never before!
Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me grace to stand in my place as a national intercessor.
Confession: I shall not disappoint my nation. I have grace from God to intercede for the nation. Let my nation encounter peace and prosperity by divine authority!
