Monday, 10th June 2024: Maintain a heart that is ready to obey the Lord!

Scripture Reading: Act 9:6
And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Reflections: Saul was determined to stop the spread of Christianity, and he took several harsh measures against the professing Christians in Jerusalem. He got them arrested and persecuted. One day, as he journeyed to Damascus to commit yet another act of brutality against the church, a bolt of lightning struck him from heaven. This knocked him off his horse and to the ground. At this point, the Lord Jesus began to speak to him from heaven. He trembled at the situation and quickly asked the Lord to show him exactly what he wanted him to do. This led to his sudden conversion and subsequent commissioning into ministry. Saul demonstrated, through the question he asked the Lord, that he was ready to obey the Lord. This action teaches us that the readiness of one’s heart to obey dictates the extent of one’s relationship with the Lord. Readiness is the state of being fully prepared to do something without hesitation. Like Saul, maintain a heart that is ready to obey the Lord.

Prayer: Oh Lord give me a heart that is ready to obey you.

Confession: I have a heart that is ever ready to obey the Lord.
